Gate Auto Open Terms of Service

1. Service provider

Gate Auto Open is provided by Handelshage AS, organisation no. 925 480 592, Ramstadsletta 24, 1363 Høvik, Norway. Contact: support@gateautoopen.handelshage.no.

2. Purpose of the app

Gate Auto Open helps automatically trigger a configured opening method for a gate, garage, barrier or similar device based on the user's settings, location and phone signals.

You may configure only entrances and devices that you are legally authorised to access and control.

3. Physical safety

The app does not replace the gate operator's safety systems, photocells, safety edges, emergency stop or correct electrical installation. Automatic opening must be configured and tested in safe conditions.

Gate Auto Open sends a command to the selected controller but does not receive reliable confirmation that the physical gate has opened, stopped or closed. You remain responsible for safe use of the installation.

4. Phone requirements and availability

Automation depends on factors such as Android permissions, location availability, Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi operation, battery restrictions, GSM or Internet coverage and the external controller. The operating system or phone manufacturer may restrict background operation.

We do not guarantee that every command will be executed within a specific time or that the service will be continuously available. Keep an alternative way to open the gate.

5. Opening methods

The app may use a GSM call, SUPLA direct link or another HTTP/HTTPS URL configured by the user. You are responsible for the correctness of the number or URL and compatibility of the controller.

HTTPS is recommended. If you choose plain HTTP, traffic to your controller is not protected by HTTPS encryption and is used at your own discretion.

6. Account, free trial and subscription

The account controls access to app features. A free trial, when offered, is provided according to the terms shown in the app and may be limited to one use per device.

If paid plans are enabled, purchases and renewals are handled through Google Play. Price, billing period and renewal terms are shown before purchase. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

7. Account security

Keep your login credentials secure and do not share access in a way that would allow unauthorised persons to control your configured gate. We may restrict access in cases of abuse, circumvention of security, attacks on the service or unlawful use.

8. Zone-configuration support

Optional map support provides a proposed configuration. A proposal is not a guarantee of correct behaviour under every GPS condition; test it during real driving before relying on it in everyday use.

9. Account deletion

You can delete your account in the app or through the public account-deletion page. The Privacy Policy explains deletion and any minimal retention required for security and abuse prevention.

10. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Handelshage AS is not liable for loss caused by incorrect gate installation, controller failure, loss of coverage, Android behaviour, incorrect user configuration or use outside the intended purpose. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights that cannot legally be waived.

11. Governing law and changes

These Terms are governed by Norwegian law, while mandatory consumer protections in the user's country of residence remain applicable. We may update the Terms when the service or legal requirements change; the current version is published on this page.
